Roof style
Regular costs least and is fine in mild climates. Pick vertical for snow, heavy rain or lengths over about 30 ft.
Sides and ends
Open costs least. 3 ft side panels and gable ends cut blowing rain. Full sides turn it into a garage.
Height
7 ft legs suit cars. Go 9 to 10 ft for lifted trucks and 12 ft or more for RVs and tractors.
Carports: common questions
Can I enclose my carport later?
Often yes, but adding walls later usually costs more than ordering them now, and the frame may need an upgrade. Tell us if you might enclose it.
Does a carport need concrete?
No. Carports can go on level ground, gravel, asphalt or concrete, with anchors to match the surface.
Do carports need a permit?
Many counties require one, often for anything over about 120 sq ft. Check with your building office before ordering.
How wide for two cars?
20 ft is the minimum. 24 ft gives room to open doors on both cars.
Is install really included?
