Pricing
How much does a steel building cost?
Size matters most, then height, roof style, frame gauge, how enclosed it is, and your ZIP code (local wind and snow ratings). Metal America's listed starting prices run from $1,699 for a 12 x 20 carport to $30,299 for a 30 x 60 shop; larger garages and shops are priced on a written quote. See the catalog.
Is the listed price the final price?
No. It's Metal America's listed starting price. Your written quote uses Metal America's current pricing for your exact size, options and location.
What's included in the price?
The building, delivery and installation on a level site. Metal America's brochures state free delivery and installation anywhere in the continental U.S., and engineered drawings and certifications are included. Concrete, permit fees and site work are extra. Your quote lists both.
Why does the same building cost more in my state?
Pricing varies by location, including local wind and snow requirements. Your quote uses Metal America's current pricing for your ZIP code.
Do you offer discounts or deals?
No. Metal America sets the prices, and we quote its current pricing only. No sales, discounts or special payment terms.
Ordering and payment
How much is the deposit?
Metal America sets the deposit, and it's shown on your order before you pay. The balance is due as written on your order.
Is the deposit refundable?
Only within the 48-hour cancellation window in your Metal America contract. After that, the deposit is non-refundable. Your contract is with Metal America; read its terms before you sign.
Can I cancel after I sign?
Your Metal America contract includes a 48-hour cancellation window: cancel within 48 hours of signing and your deposit is refunded. After that, the deposit is non-refundable.
Can I change my order?
Usually before production starts. Changes can affect price and timing.
Site, permits and engineering
Do I need a permit?
Permitting may be required, depending on your county; many require one for buildings over about 120 sq ft. You're responsible for confirming local requirements before ordering. Engineered drawings and certifications are included to help. Permit steps.
What site prep do I need?
A level site (within about 3 inches), the right base, clear truck access and utilities marked. Full checklist.
Do you pour the concrete?
No. You arrange the slab locally. We give you the exact size to build to.
What does certified mean?
Engineered to a stated load rating, with drawings for your permit. Every garage and shop in Metal America's 2026 brochures is rated for 140+ mph winds, with engineered drawings and certifications included. More.
What gauge is the steel?
Metal America's garages and shops use a 14-gauge steel frame and 29-gauge sheet metal. The shops use vertical roofing, and larger shops add ladder legs and vertical siding.
Which roof style should I pick?
Regular costs least, boxed eave looks like a house roof, vertical handles snow and rain best. Compare them.
Delivery and install
Who installs it?
Metal America provides the materials, delivery and installation. Its crew builds it on your site.
How long until install?
Your quote gives Metal America's current estimated lead time for your area, confirmed on your order. It changes with season and region, and we can't promise a specific delivery or install date.
How long does the install take?
It depends on the building. Smaller carports and garages are quicker; large shops take longer. Metal America's crew confirms on the day.
Do you do finishing work?
No. Metal America delivers and installs the building. Concrete, wiring, plumbing, interior walls and stalls are arranged by you with local trades.
What if my site isn't level?
Installers allow only a few inches. More than that can mean extra charges or a return trip, so fix it first.
Where do you deliver?
Metal America's brochures state free delivery and installation anywhere in the continental U.S. We sell in most of the continental U.S. (excluding Virginia), and not in California or Connecticut. Enter your ZIP on the quote form to confirm.
Warranty and changes later
What warranty do I get?
A 10-year warranty, per Metal America's 2026 garage and shop brochures. The warranty is Metal America's, and the written terms on your order are what count.
Can I add on or enclose it later?
Often, but it usually costs more than ordering the final size and walls now. Tell us your plans up front.
Can I move it later?
Steel buildings can be taken down and moved, but it's real work and may affect the warranty. Plan the spot carefully.
Where we sell
Serving most of the continental U.S. (excluding Virginia). We also don't sell in California or Connecticut. Enter your ZIP on the quote form to confirm.
