Roof and options

What to decide for this building, and what it does to the price.

Roof style

Most of the collection uses a vertical roof, which sheds rain and snow best. Grit has an A-frame horizontal roof; Workhorse and Lockbox are regular.

Doors

Plan 8 to 9 ft of door width per car. Roll-up door height is usually about 1 ft less than the leg height.

Base

Enclosed garages usually go on a concrete slab. We give you the exact slab size to build to.

Garages with a lean-to

A lean-to adds a covered bay along one side for trailers, equipment or firewood. There are no standard lean-to models in the 2026 collection.

Garages: common questions

What size garage do I need for 2 cars?

24 x 25 is a practical minimum; 24 x 30 adds room for storage. See the sizing guide.

Do steel garages need concrete?

Most enclosed garages go on concrete. Some smaller ones can go on level gravel or asphalt with the right anchors. Ask before you order.

Can I insulate it?

Yes, but decide before you order. Insulation goes in during the build, between the frame and the panels, and can't be added once the walls are up. Ask on your quote; options are confirmed in writing. Interior finishing, like walls and wiring, is yours to arrange locally.

Can I add a lean-to?

Lean-tos are quoted to order. Ask on the quote form and we'll price it with Metal America.

Are the doors included?

Each model comes with the roll-up doors, walk-in doors and windows listed in Metal America's brochure. Extra doors and windows change the price.

What are the specs?

Every garage in Metal America's 2026 collection has a 14-gauge steel frame, 29-gauge sheet metal and a 140+ mph wind rating. Engineered drawings and certifications are included.
